Generating comparison reports.

AdeptSQL Diff integrates a third-party reporting components (FastReports) to print comparison results or export them in a variety of popular formats (HTML, PDF, RTF, XSL, XML). Although the Diff allows to have several types of reports, including user-made custom ones, version 1.90 comes with only one report included, which is basically a printer-friendly representation of the information you see in the schema tree.

dlg_reportTo invoke the reporting functionality, run a comparison, then choose the File/Reporting menu command or the "Print" (btn_print) toolbar button.

A dialog box with reporting parameters will appear. The Diff looks for report templates in the Reports/ subdirectory of the directory where the program is installed. If several templates are available, you will be able to choose the one you need from the combo-box at the top of the dialog. [However, only one "default" report is included with version 1.90]. The other parameters you can specify here are:

· Skip unchanged items: Only schema objects with some differences in them will be reported. You would probably want to check this option when producing reports for a pair of complex databases with a small number of mismathces between them.
· Report only selected: Makes it possible to report only items selected in the schema tree or in the DataDiff view (for data reports). Multiple objects can be simultaneously selected, as well as entire categories of objects (e.g. tables). If this option is not checked, the entire schema is included into the report.
· Brief stats only: The report will include only the stats section with the numbers of identical, changed or missing schema objects of each type, without listing the individual objects.

Once you click the [Report...] button of the dialog, the report will be generated and displayed in a preview window. From there, you can either print it out or export in a number of data formats:
